dml, if a company is looking for grain/oilseeds, especialy this time of year a premium is attacted to entice delivery's. Just because the borg phones does not mean sh@t to most of us this time of year. Make it worth my time and I will find a trucker.

You are right, wheat production was not a record in 2008. Wheat production in Canada was higher in 1986, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1996. I apologize for misspeaking and thank you for bringing my error to my attention. However, I think we can agree that when production was up over 40% from the 2007, that the task of marketing the Large 2008 crop into a world which did produce a record amount of wheat was formidable.
I do not think one phone call sould be considered a market signal to plant more wheat in 2009! Once again there are a host of factors which determine supply and demand and farmers need to consider more than a late season delivery opportunity for last years crop in deciding what to plant this year.

"Hot topics
Deliveries wanted
Farmers are encouraged to deliver Nos. 1 and 2 CWRS and No. 1 CWAD throughout the spring seeding season.
A high volume of sales have been made that have pushed our April and May export program significantly above average levels. Regular deliveries of accepted high-quality CWRS and CWAD are needed to fulfil these commitments.
We recognize that the spring is a difficult time to deliver, and that many producers are affected by road bans. However, where it is possible to deliver in April and May, we encourage you to do so."
Another CWB message... CWB Pro Bono responsibility for our domestic livestock producers...
"Support a hog farmer:
Please consider eating an extra meal of pork this week to support Canada’s hog and grain producers. The hog industry is an important part of Western Canada's economy. The World Health Organization advises that H1N1 Influenza A is not transmitted by pork products."

Dml, most of the increased wheat production was from AC Andrew - wich the borg will not handle anyway. Again I will state there is a shorter supply of #1-2 HRSW than even the borg figures and now they are scrambling in the worst possible of times. BTW, canola carry out is getting smaller by the day becuase the market wants it and is paying for it and farmers are responding big time - go figure.

"Hatred and greed". Sounds like an emotional argument to me DML. I thought you were a facts guy.
Let's look at these then shall we.
What exactly is wrong with hating the fact that I can't sell my grain to the highest, or any bidder, of my choosing? What is wrong with hating the fact that on the open market I could get a buck a bushel more right now for my spring wheat and $1.55 a bushel more for winter wheat?
Why am I 'greedy' for wanting the same returns as everyone else outside of the designated area?
What makes you so virtuous for wanting less or not knowing that you are getting less?
And why is it that whenever the wheat board supposedly gives you an extra crumb you die hard monopolists act like you just won an evening with Jessica Alba that includes full bedroom privileges?
Back to your bin busting world wide crop theory for poor wheat board sales performance. Yes, it was a big crop last year, but the worlds beginning stocks were higher in '93, '94, '98,'99'00'01 and'02 than they are this year. The reason, record sales. Why are you ignoring this? The rest of the world was able to sell a record amount of wheat. Why not the wheat board with all it's so called marketing clout?
Is this why you switch to emotional arguments? The facts don't back up your theories.

What matters is Alberta cattle producers are not being allowed to decide the matter for themselves through a plebiscite. Why won't the Stemach government allow a plebiscite, not only for the province's cattle producers but pork and lamb too? That is an important question and one that this government has been unwilling to answer.
Maybe Will Verboven has it figured right.

Charlie:
First you say wheat carryover will be 8mmt, then you say 6? Perhaps 4mmt is next? Is this why you no longer work for the CWB marketing department?
Rolf: How is the stinky pig market doing these days? I dumped all my frozen pork in the garbage.... yuk! BBQ steak and chicken for my family this long weekend.

Hopperbin: show me how you come up with $13/bu average when most line companies shut down forward pricing last spring at the height of the rally?
Also from looking at the weekly canola deliveries it appears they were quite fluid each week. Are you saying the majority of these deliveries were priced prior to last fall?
If your are correct, then Canadian farmers shouldnt farm, they should just trade the market and quit complaining about fertiler prices.

Franny: how is your stinky pig market doing? I tossed all my frozen pork meat. From now on it's going to be BBQ beef and chicken. Pork is no longer on my family's menu.
