Is there anything I can be doing now for grasshopper control next spring? We have high populations of hoppers (some big ones up to 4") that appeared mid-season. They aren't doing much harm as the crop is far enough along but I am concerned for next year. The conditions remind me of 2002 and 03 where the hoppers appeared mid-2002 and then in 03 we had a better year with almost adequate moisture but we had hoppers right from the beginning and had to control them.
Is there anything I can do this fall or is it simply a matter of waiting to see what the spring holds? On a side note it is almost impossible to find a custom sprayer around here who will handle insecticides but that's a whole different thread...
