    proposed TSA by cyanamid

Here it something that came in my mail from a market research company that every one needs to see I scanned it so there are a few small errors Only about 2/3 of it fits on this page PROPOSED TECHNOLOGY STEWARDSHIP AGREEMENT FOR SMART CANOLA Cyanamid is considering introducing a Technology Stewardship Agreement TSA) for SMART canola - the imidazolinone tolerance/trait technology developed by Cyanamid. A grower will need to sign a TSA before he/she can use the SMART technology (seed and herbicides). The following outlines both the proposed steps involved in obtaining a TSA to use the SMART technology as well as the proposed terms and conditions of the TSA. 1. The first step in getting a TSA to use the SMART technology seed and herbicides) is to obtain a Stewardship Card. In order to acquire a Stewardship Card a grower will need to participate in a weed resistance management training seminar sponsored by Cyanamid. 2. A grower with a Stewardship Card is now eligible to obtain a TSA from a Cyanamid authorized representative (retailer) to purchase SMART canola and herbicides. There would be a $5 per acre fee paid to Cyanamid (collected by an authorized representative) to obtain a TSA. However, $3 of the $5 per acre fee will be applied as a discount on the purchase of a SMART branded herbicide (Odyssey and Pursuit and their registered tank mixes). Cyanamid will contribute part of the remaining $2 per acre to support public variety research. The total cost per acre of the SMART technology (seed and herbicides) will remain competitively priced. Upon signing the TSA, the grower: - Agrees to preserve seed purity by using certified SMART canola seed for planting in only one crop year and selling all SMART canola produced as commercial canola. -Agrees not to save seed produced from SMART canola seed for the purpose of replanting nor to sell, give or transfer or otherwise convey any SMART canola seed for the purpose of replanting. The grower also agrees not to harvest any volunteer SMART canola seed crops. -Agrees to purchase and use only SMART branded herbicides labeled for use (Odyssey and Pursuit and their registered tank mixes) on all SMART canola seed purchased. The grower will obtain the TSA as well as purchase both the SMART branded herbicide and the SMART canola seed as a package from his retailer of choice. -To minimize the development of weed resistance, the grower agrees to develop, maintain and act upon a Field Plan. The Field Plan will ensure the year to year rotation of herbicides from different herbicide groups (different modes of action) on a field by field basis for the following three years. Such a Plan will be made available for inspection by Cyanamid at a time convenient to the grower.
