Phosphorus Fertilization in Crop Production

Hey guys, I'm wondering what is the best practice to use "P fertilizer"?

I'm taking over my dad's farm, and I have no idea how to do it. He is paralyzed and can't help me with that.
Any ideas? A lot of articles on the web, but wanna hear some practical opinion.

The best place for Phosphate fertilizers is either in the seed row with cereals, and canola, or preseeding at a couple of inches deep if seeding alfalfa or hay. Broadcasting works on a yearly maintenance basis with forage fields. Phosphate does not move in the soil, and is necessary for healthy root development. Most crops will need 20 to 40 lbs (or more) depending on your expectations for yield. Keep an eye on your other nutrients too...... its not just N,P,K and S. Certain crops have high demand for things like Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Boron, and to a lesser amounts, Copper, Manganese. Its all about balance too.......
