What are ways to improve financial management training for farm families?

This question was asked in a meeting I attended this week hosted by the Agricultural Business Management Branch in Olds,Alberta. A Alberta survey is being conducted to Identify Financial Training Needs as well as improved methods to serve those needs. It was encouraging to see that Agri-ville.com was invited to join in this process. We invited our members, to provide feedback to this question in this discussion forum.

Great question to start a discussion, I thank Agri-Ville for providing a
forum for all of us to voice our thoughts on many issues. I learn a lot
from the discussions here, but I do believe that your question is one
of the BIG keys to the agriculture communities future.

I have been investigating several technologies that would provide
real time up to date information and education to all sectors
(including the end users) I am presently in discussions with several
groups that include Technical Educational institutions, software
companies, industry specialists, suppliers, several industry
participants, financial specialists and internet gurus'. All of these
groups have been very interested in a collaboration that would
provide information and secure products and services the
Canadian agriculture industry. At this point I do not believe the
public will see any real movement on this issue until July or August
of this year. However, I would sure be interested in the thoughts,
comments and ideas from anyone that cares to share. My goals are
still the same, to develop a strong Value Chain with the above
mentioned components as a part of the matrix, but with the amount
of interest and response I have seen from those that can make it
happen, this could be a good foundation to start from!
