During the New England apple meeting 3 out of 4 panelist felt that McIntosh would remain a major component of their production and markets. Only one person stated that he was reducing his McIntosh production and planting cultivars that had a greater potential for returns. McIntosh is a major component of Eastern Canada production. Do you feel that it has the potential to remain as a major cultivar and provide growers with an adequate rate of return? If not any thoughts as to what could replace it.
