calculating acres with gps

I would like to find a handheld gps to verify field acres, mark trouble spots, measure distance in feet, and possibly speed in mph. I don't think I need to print the maps or link to a computer. Thanks

Garmin GPS 12XL seems to be fairly accurate on acres, Approx $300.00

Prairie Geomatics Ltd in Minnedosa MB markets the Garmin products. Their toll free number is 1-888-444-0302. The 12 XL is a 1997 model. They recommend the a more current the GPS 76. The cost is approx $50 lower than the 12 XL with the added benefits of greater accuracy and enhanced display.

I bought a garmin 76 from gps city canada www.gpscitycanada.com with an external antenna a couple of weeks ago. I will post in a couple of days as to its ease of use.
