    Stuck drill

What are people's strategies for getting a BG 5710 or similar drill unstuck? There's only one tractor available unless the boss asks a neighbour. I've been using a two rope to walk the machine but those gang packers are just ploughing. My next step is to pick away at the mud in those packers by hand so they can start rolling instead of pushing.

Unhook, get out tow rope and hook it up
so the tractor is pulling it at an angle
and on dry land, then take a run at it.
If I am lucky I can get it out in one
shot, sometimes it takes a couple go's
at it from different angles to get it
out. If i run i can be going again in
20-25 minutes 15 minutes with two
people. We use a huge tow rope 75 feet
long that is a bitch to handle but is
stretches a lot and works great. I rap
the tow rope around the clearance marker
s and that is the biggest job getting it
    off and on.

We also took off the steel packers and
put on the 2 1/2 rubber capped packers,
that seemed to help a lot. I think
bigger tires on the front would help on
    the front as well.

My experience is when spinning out and not moving stop immedieatelly. Unhook and strap on a 20 fooot strap on, if you spin out too much you could be ****ed. Best to be not stuck than strap onned.

if a cat with a winch is handy, no problem. unhook, have cat back up to tool bar and winch it upwards, you can then hook up a tow rope with tractor if required to help out, especially if the cat is only a D6 or so. I've pulled seeders out of pretty hellish holes in this matter.
