    Bale Buster vs Tub Grinder

I am looking for info on best way to feed greenfeed at a reasonable price i.e. machinery cost compared to reduced wastage of feed

The AgTech Centre has recently published an evaluation report on bale processors. While this report will not fully answer your question, it might provide some useful information.

If you are interested in receiving a copy of this report, you can call the AgTech Centre at (403) 329-1212, and ask for report #747, "Bale Processors", or send me an email at darryl.slingerland@gov.ab.ca

We can either mail the report to you, or email a pdf version of it.

I have fed greenfeed with my bale king bale processor for years and am very satisfied with the results.

If I have a bale that is not green and more like straw, I then feed it into a bunk so that the cattle will not lay on it for bedding. If the feed is green then they should slick it right up just on the ground.

Thanks for the replies to date. Another question..What is the best way to feed greenfeed with awns (wheat, triticale, etc.)? Should greenfeed by mixed with another forage? Is it like feeding straw where two year old barley straw seems to work best. I have never fed this type of feed before having always had hay or silage and am a little out of my leaque.
