    3630 Spray Coupe

Looking at purchasing a 3630 model with a Volvo gas engine. Looking for any info good or bad. This has a 60' boom that to I don't know if that is big enough as my ground sprayer is 100'. Am I taking a step back...

we've had ours for 11 years, still have it! I do ,however, wish I had a 4640 with a 400 gal tank and 80' booms. right now I can spray out 80 acres an hour plus fill and field moving time. I have done up to 800 acres in a day under the right conditions. Can you preharvest with your 100' machine? Just a thought. Can't stress enough how much I would love 80' booms, though! Just would get things done even faster.

I have a 4640, can't really comment on the 3630 but will say this. The smaller tank 300gallon is a draw back and 60' booms adds a lot more tracks to your feilds. you probably are looking at the 3630 because of the price? just remember there is really only one stage of the season when you need a high clearence sprayer and that is for preharvest and canola fungicide. The rest of the time a field sprayer can do the job as well. The main reason someone buys a self propelled is for productivity.

I have had a 3630 with the Puegot engine for about 8 years. They are perhaps a bit under powered, a bit cold blooded, but seems to be quite reliable. I have heard it recommended to change the timing chain every 1300 1500 hrs, they tend to fail, and the repair is expensive if it does. Ours is 60' and 300 gal. Yes 400 would be nice for reduced filling, but adds extra weight when trying to get thru the wet spots or up hills. 80' would be nice, but would cut out about 8 to 10 passes across the field; gonna take a long time to pay the difference on a newer one with the saved grain in the tracks. I love ours, nice to run, relatively quick for the dollar, dependable, and ready to use when I am. Have heard of several still going at 3500 hrs, and intend to see if mine will,(still 1700 hrs away)
