I am looking at purchasing a new header that will do a good job in all crops. I seed flax ,wheat ,barley, peas and yellow mustard . My auger style batt reel rigid header just doesn't do it in anything but cereals. Am leaning towards a d****r header but welcome any input from anyone out there.

Go with a big d****r header! We run 2 25 foot Macdon 960 headers on 9500 JDs. We have P/U reels, Valley packing systems gauge wheels, and poly skids under the knife. One machine is equiped with Crary guards (cuts tough stuff very good). I wanted to trade to a 30' 962 this year but poor crop. I have run a 36' Honeybee and it is well built, great kinfe and knife drive system. Only problem is seeing the knife when cutting low. The large framework blocks your sight of the cutterbar in the center. Macdon has a nice canvas tightening system. Honeybee has good feeding using the drum at the throat. The older 960 sometimes plugs, the new design (871 adapter w/ 962 or 972 header is better.

I have been looking at the Agco d****r model to fit to the R72 that I use . It looks very nice and is recommended by one dealer over the Macdon but is trying the hard sell on the Honeybee, but I haven't won the lottery recently. The Agco comes with the pea auger, gauge wheels, skid plates, pickup reel,etc.. Although one farmer traded a one year old one off near me stating that he could not do lentils well. I wonder if it just needed some adjusting but still has me wondering??

There is only one header on the market to buy and that is a HONEYBEE. We run 4 - 36 foot models and cut peas, lentils, durum, barley, canola, chickpeas. Our land is not all flat by any means. ADJUSTMENT IS EVERYTHING. The over/under cutterbar system is superb. These are great units
