Does anyone in Alberta use a vertical tillage tool? If so, is it just to chop and lightly incorporate straw into the soil? I wanna know if it is worth finding a Great Plains or Salford machine rather than using heavy harrows

I tried one. I did a test with a agroplow (shanks) and tried a Mandako (discs). Neither one did any better that the harrows on straw. The only advantage is I could run the Mandako over pea straw. Both loosened the soil but there was no yeild increase. Based on the cost and results I would not use one again.
