Tractor vs grain cart

Is a JD 7700 mfwd tractor ok to pull a 700-800 bushel grain cart? Is the draw-bar strong enough to carry that much weight?

We had custom combiners in a couple of years ago that pulled a 800 bushel cart with a 4650. It all depends on how well the cart is balanced, but probably it wouldn't hurt to talk to the manufacturer who should be able to tell you hitch weights and recommended horsepower.

I run a 4255 JD on a 450 bushel grain cart and we never had any problems with the drawbar. The problem we had was operators making sharp turns a low speed (turning around) We had 2 different operators tip the cart over on its side and setting it on the unloading auger. Your drawbar will likely be made out of T1 steel not just mild steel. We also had a few problem with the unloading auger. The heavy grain would cause the folding unloading auger to start opening up & spill grain. I think it was a 500 model from JD anyway. Best of luck unloading on the go adds a lot of acres in a day.

We used to have a pull type New Holland bale wagon that help 160 little squared bales. It was very heavy on the hitch and the NH operators manual had us build a supporting brace that came off the 3 point hitch top link down to the rear bolt hole that the hammerstrap uses. It provided a noticeable improvement in drawbar rigidity and provided support much closer to the hitch pin.

use an Unverferth 8000 behind a 3394 Case and now A 7130 Case, Drawbar is marginal on 3394 and 7130, But tractor is almost short on HP and weight

A 4650 is a fair size bigger tractor than is a 7700 JD, with a bigger cart to boot! 160 vs 130, or something to that degree, but even worse is the 7700 is a lighter tractor. Hills would be scary!
