Used 40T lowboy make good all purpose farm trailer?

In looking through the truck traders, I see that older 35 - 40 ton lowboys are quite a bit cheaper than step deck trailers and even newer flat decks that you pull behind your pickup. Would an older 40 foot lowboy make a good all purpose farm trailer to things such as haul round bales 15 -20 miles, haul water to livestock if we need to, pick up posts and lumber in town, etc..

The only thing I am unsure of is if they have enough ground clearance, and how do you unhook them? Mostly I see Willock models and the pictures show them sitting on blocks with no landing gear. Can you block them up and dump the tractor air to unhook or do you need a winch to hook up again?

    Thanks for any info.

Just block them up and dump your air
