    Auction sales!

Some guys must get their head out of their but. Wow, Kramer sales are almost ridiculas(sp). I have been attending R/B and Krammer as well watching - on line and although most sales are up slightly on average - Kramer sales are almost stupid - good on them. WTF are some guys thinking???? 1994 JD 9600 w/2570 thr-hrs for over $93grand? We just bought a 2002 r72 960hrs for just a little more - from a lot!! 1.5 times the combine in wheat.
    A 1998 9200 JD with 310 hp(small engine) 2180 hrs for 94 grand???

I don't know what guys think at a sale. I do know this, I will only buy something at an auction if I KNOW that I am getting a hell of a deal. If the price gets anywhere close to lot price or new price, I won't buy. Now I guess that could be why I don't buy much at auctions.

Talked to salesman from Kinistino and he says that Humboldt Farm Equip. and possibly someother JD dealers aren't going to get new tractors in time and have no inventory left to cover the shortage. Says anything green was going for 10k premium at Hodgins due to this

if people are paying a 10k premium to have green paint they indeed need help.

Gotta admit I have had better luck with equipment purchased at Auction than from the dealer. I realize my luck could change and would never pay more at auction than from dealer.

I don't think many people have an auction because their tractor or combine are getting weak but they do trade them off for these reasons. You always are taking a risk either way.

I may be one of those guys you are talking about. I may have paid a couple K over what I should have for a specific piece at a Kramer auction just recently, but this was the last one on my short list left and would take far too much of my time to keep up the search. And heh I was there, it was in ex. shape and not too much over the (going) range. So she's mine. How much value do you put on your time when away at sales 2,3 times a week. Besides the auctioneering yammer gives me headaches. lol

I keep a close eye on all auctions in SK. to purchase grain vacs for my business. I proxy bid or in person almost all vacs and notice in many sales that they sell for more than I sell them for fixed up with warranty. I also seek out other equipment for export or customers if I am at a sale. Noticing seeding equipment going high as well as an unusual amount of harvesting equipment going above market.

I think alot of this is do to the internet bidding. I have lost at least 4 items last week alone to internet bidding that is seeing the items going out of province.

I have only been to 3 auctions all spring - no time to waste when there are no bargins. 15 min on the computer each day pretty much gives one the sense to stay away and do much more effective things home on the ranch. Got to go and shovel snow!
