30 oil vs 15-40 oil

We have a 1086 & a 784 IH tractors.In the manual it is very specific not to use multigrade oil & recommends 30 for summer time. When I go to the oil people they say don't worry the oil is better now so don't worry. Who to believe? You should have more protection with mulitgrades? Any info appreciated.

I agree with the info you've got from others. Remember your manual was written when oils weren't what they are now. I would run the 15/40. But... that's only my opinion. It's free, but you get what you pay for!!!
