    Harvesting

Anyone able to do anything in the last couple of days? If it doesn't rain today hope to take some canola off and fill the wet bins...at least pick away at it.

Nothing "wide spread" here yet....and I believe the guys will have better conditions than other areas that got more snow or rain that keeps rolling through. Shouldn't be long though! At least the snow is gone here.

The long term forecast gives a guy hope to finish combining.
I'm thinking our farm might actually enjoy a rain to melt/dissolve snow.....than sun and wind.

In my opinion on about October 25th combines will be going crazy again.

The combines were crawling along in swathed Canola most of yesterday. Moisture started at 11.4 at 12:00. Not much shelled at all and straw goes through combine better than before. The yield is still there and it looks like we'll have a beautiful week to put it in the bin, maybe dry. No worry - be happy! Keep safe.

Soybean were going Wed, Most everybody was going Thur, Fri swathed canola was going through like a damn, but I couldn't go in standing flax, straw was too tough with a very few sprinkles now and then through the day. Yesterday sun and wind off the hop, started at 11, straw didn't get good till 1:30. Went hard till 6, then couldn't put the straw through by 6:30. Crappy and damp this morning, looks like light showers or sprinkles again today, hopefully we don't get much moisture as next week looks sunny, need sun to get that flaw straw through!!!

Boarder, you would think we would know how to make flax rope by now, haha.

I've said it before, "I'm never growing flax again !" , this time I mean it.
If I want to spread my harvest load out, from now on I'll be switching to soybeans.
Like I said, beans were going through on Wed already, stocks easy to put through vs. bunching flax straw. WAY EASIER on the rotor/concave. And just seed separation from the straw, very hard to get flax seed outta toughish flax straw.

Boarder....we aren't seeing the webs yet but seen a pile of tiny spiders just outside the house door. I bet if won't be long before we see them here either. How long will "Indigenous Summer" last though!?!?!?!?!

Thought of trying standing durum today. Chewed some kernels yesterday was surprised how they were. Anyone try durum?
