Wow, its been a long time since I posted here. New format and all, looks nice, just needs a 'like' button lol.
Thought I would post about a little project I started a year and some ago. Its called AgOpenGPS and is full section control, mapping, guidance, area, and boundary capable precision Ag software that is not only free but available on Github with full open source code for modules and the main program. It runs on a windows based tablet, albeit a better quality and power capable one.
Open source and anything free is very rare in Ag. I'm asking if you have skills in c and or c# programming skills or just curious to join the discussion on combine forum, sorry farms.com for their plug but had to start somewhere, to contribute to the project. Lately the focus has been on auto steer and the discussion happens here.....

Full RTK cm level accurate systems complete with radios from Swift Navigation are available for about 2000 US and they are releasing a fully sealed industrial version soon for 500 more. I've been in contact with them explaining the needs of Ag and they see potential in Ag.
Pretty exciting stuff, and I'm hoping it will evolve to where the curious can take this info and do precision Ag for very little cost and ease. As of late development of guidance using the same techniques as autonomous vehicles has been very exciting. It just works! We seeded all our crops this year with it controlling the clutch for precise on off.
You can get the software here. https://github.com/farmerbriantee/AgOpenGPS

Future plans include variable rate seeding and doing PWM sprayer nozzle control down to 4" accuracy unlike current 1 meter resolution of commercial systems.
A video of it in use while seeding
Safe harvest everyone.
