    NH 780 round balers

anyone out there have various problems with thier's, including rollers getting hot from straw packing in? apparently there are updates to help with some of the problems but how do you know if you get all of them?

We have a case RBX 562, which is a clone of the NH 780. We have had problems with the belts tracking properly resulting in SEVERE belt ware and torn lacings. Apparently it is a design flaw. They went from two adjustable rollers to one. The dealership put in an expeller roller which helped some but it's still only 8 out of 10. Check your 780 for the same problem with a bale started in it, and running. A recall is in the works. Our neighbor had the same problem your having with his 780. The dealership welded a kind of deflector around the space between the edge of the roller, and the sheet metal to stop the material from jamming in the gap and getting hot. Only a problem with the wide pick-up option. This solved his problem, hopefully it works for you too.

thanks for the input. we had to have that plate welded in as the roller was turning blue. solved that problem but the next one up started getting hot. never noticed the belt problem but we had enough other problems. we're starting over with another new baler next year. it's been in the shop getting updates, seems every month they come up with more. really like the way it makes bales though, just shouldn't have bought the first year of the new model. will keep an eye on those belts.
