Anyone any experience with a stove burning corn or wheat as a form of heating?
Oil gas prices/wheat price make it look attractive but does it work in practice?
there is a fellow in saskatchewan that sells grain burners he goes to most of the farm shows. his stove puts out a bout 60000 btu's and burns one to two bushels of grain a day
I installed a corn burning stove a year and a half ago. I have been impressed with the amount of heat that it can throw out. It burns approv. 100 lbs of dry corn per day. Will also burn wheat and rye. The house has never been warmer with very little labor involved. This particular model was manufactured in Ontario. Since I put this in 2 of my neighbors also installed one and two more neighbors have a stove on order. I found 2 web sites that were very informative on the subject of corn burning. One was from Penn State University and the other was a Factsheet from Ontario Agriculture.
