I see adds for these bin stirring machines(usually Sukup systems) and am wondering if they are any good? I don't know of anyone here in Alberta that has one. I can't afford to set up a grain dryer and the aeration and heaters that I do have aren't that effective for wheat. I typically only have to dry only a few thousand bushels of wheat at the most. I have thought about setting up a 4000 bushel bin with a stir system. What are the good and bad points of these stir systems?

i have been readiong this site and saw your post, i realize it wa sposted in Nov but i thought you might still weant to know about the dryer bin.I have an 7000 bus grain vault bin with a sukup 20 hp fan and 100,000 btu natural gas burner with 2 stir augers and i am very happy with it,i can dry 6000 bus of wheat in no time with no damage to the seed.this fall i put 6000 bus of wheat in a 16% ran the fan and burner for 15 hrs at about 130 deg and then shut everything off for 12 hrs then cooled with just the fan and stir augers for 12 hrs and i hauled it out at 12.5% mt.pretty nice way to dry grain i would say and you still have a bin for storage when it is all said and done.it works well for barley and canola too, haven't tried anything else.hope this helps.
