markers on Bourgault FH model cultivators

Does anybody have any knowledge/experience with having markers on the older Bourgault floating hitch cultivators, in regards to cultivator frame strength? A friend has informed me of farmers with 50 or 60 foot Bourgault seeders (8810 or 5710, I'm not sure) that had to swith to GPS guidance due to frame/weld breakage caused by the big Haukass markers.

We're in the process of buying a 40' FH model so that might make a difference, but the new machines have stronger frames.

I'm also thinking about the aluminum markers from Straw Track Manufacturing (Seed Master seeders).

To be honest I don't know why you scrap the whole idea of markers. Why don't you look at GPS. It gets cheaper every year and I'm sure there is bound to be some specials at upcoming farm shows.
If you went with GPS using the free signal you would have a more accurate/efficent cultivator and you could transfer it unit to unit. ie sprayer, seeder.
You can also find used GPS units in the western producer, or even at your local equipment dealer. I bought a used one for our seeder. The person I had bought it from upgraded to autosteer and no longer needed it.
I think this is your better choice.

I agree, get a gps unit. We use outback and they are really coming down in price. You can move them around so easily from tractor to sprayer or whatever. I use mine for seeding, and then into the sprayer. GPS is way more accurate than foam markers. Here is a link to their website.
