    The airseeder hopper

Is anyone using this on their airseeder and if so how do you like it?

Currently we are using a Cancade transfer auger off the truck but with the ever increasing need to get more efficient we decided that this may be a better system. We don't care to run the truck for a half hour every time we fill. Also don't like the extra seed damage and maintenance.

How do you keep the hopper dry if you can't flip it over?Is it hard to clean out?Do you have to wing up to fill?Is it possible to reach both truck hoppers without moving the truck?

    Any info much appreciated.

Have had two airseeder hoppers, one on a bourgault 4250 tank and one on a bourgault 5440 tank. The loading auger is the key to the system. If the loading auger swings on an arc like the 4250 tank then you need a 36 foot or longer trailer to work nice, as it needs a long distance between the dolly legs and the tires on the trailer to swing in. If the auger has an accordian style linkage where it swings around and can be pushed in or out from the cart you can use any length of trailer. I use 1/2 a super b to fill my tank with and really like it on the 5440 cart and didn't care for it on the 4250 cart. On the 4250 tank you swung the auger part way and then had to climb in the truck and move it 4 feet and then swing the auger again to fill. On the 5440 tank I can pull in with the truck and shut if off. The hoppers on the trailer and tank match up perfect, you don't have to start the truck again until you need to fill next time.
I have heard that the John Deere loading augers did not work well with the hoppers.
There is a tarp sold that covers the airseeder hopper and helps to keep the rain and straw/dirt out of the hopper. There is a small drain hole in the bottom that is easy to use for cleaning out the hopper.
Does not seem to crack any more seed. I always water down my peas when I load them at the farm yard and slow the auger down on the airtank when filling and I am pleased. It does an excellent job of mixing peat based innoculant on peas due to the nice even flow you get out of a hopper bottom trailer.
Overall, I am happy with the setup. If I had the money I would buy a set of 10" michels augers with wireless remote for my trailers. Use at seeding, and then when harvesting dusty crops like barley, you sit in the auger tractor with the wireless remote and never get in the dust.

We run an Airseeder Hopper on a flexicoil 2320. We fill from a doepker Tridem triple(3 hoppers in the middle, not 2 in the middle and one out the back.) Works great-lots off room to swing the auger in and jockey the truck around if need be. When we fill we drive the tractor up towards the front of the truck and then turn hard to get the wing out of the way and leave the cart lined up for a straight line drive in with the truck. It's best to have the drivers side next to the auger. takes a few times but you learn to judge how close to come with the truck to the back cart tire and where to stop for the first commodity. I use a five gallon pail for a marker. I fill with fert, then with the seed, swing the auger out of the way, back the truck out of the way, drain the hopper into the five gallon pail with the drain hole, button everything up and get at it. The hopper turns on the auger to stay dry(at least on our flexi, other brands may be different.) It does take more HP to run the longer flighting-don't overload it with fert on the first fill when the auger tube is all rusty. Been there, done it, no fun.
