    Auction Sales

How cheap is machiney going to go this spring? Some big farmer by Yorkton is auctioning off 14 4wd tractors, 80 quarters of land, etc. Who is going buy all this and at what price? Farmers seem to get a disease at auction sales and lose all sense.

I remember just a short time ago reading an artical about this farm. The whole artical was about how the efficient large farm was the only way we would survive.
ALBERTAN'S and Eruopeans are said to be interested in moving to this part of the world.

These big farms are just grand! They were put together on volume discounts and high expectations from a market place that is consumer driven. With a large chunk of land like that it would be perfect for some large corperation to step in and show the rest of us dumb farmers how to do it right! They can offer us decent salary to drive their equipment and to say ya sa.

I know about this auction and I know who the farmer is.

Trust me, he would not be having a auction if he wasn't going to be making money at it. He is a sharp business man. Alot of the stuff being auctioned off wasn't even used on his farm it was just bought at a low price with the intention of reselling it at a auction sale.

I think any young farmer out there should check this sale out. This looks like a sale with lots of good, new equipment. None of the standing around a junk pile for 10min with the autioneer trying to sell old grease cartriges.

wmoeibis, this sale is listed on Ritchie Bros.

Lakenheath I agree there are alot of guys when the bidding starts they lose all common sense. I have asked the same question who is going to buy this stuff? I would think that much land for sale that fast, he is not going to get a good dollar for it all. Not to mention all the rented land he has given up. I would love to see what all the guys he was renting from are saying?? Because the only ones to rent land to are the large operations right?? Now they can sit with there land. When the "Big Guy" quits. Maybe if they'd have rented to a smaller operation they wouldn't be in the mess there in!!!!!

Don Lang at Panoka did well on his first sale and at his second lost a bundle. He never came close to getting what he had to pay for his near new equipment. Likely 40% less

The sale was today this guy was no genius it was a disaster.
He got below market value for the land and on his yard the two shops cost 210000 two years ago to build he got 140000 for the land and buildings.
He speculated and lost, the equipment was junk except for the 4 new 4x4 and 6 swathers and 2 combines the rest was crap.
