    Bourgault trash clearance

Having trouble this year with our Bourgault air drill, 10" spacing, mid row banders. Never had this trouble before. When seeding into wheat stubble lots of plugging around coulters and the shanks around them.

We've tried new coulters, new sweeps, changing sc****r settings, even moving mid row banders and shanks to different spots.

Last years crop was excellent (except for fall which turned everything into 3's and feed) and we cut it higher than normal, which may be part of the problem. Currently we've rented a heavy harrow and have to harrow it at least twice to get through it with drill.

If you have any ideas please respond, even if it's well past seeding time, as I have to learn for future years as well.

I have had problems this year also. But I have only have problem when seeding on bad sawfly damaged wheat stubble. The long straw didn't make it through the chopper. On the flip side I am seeding through the highest durum stubble I have ever seeded through with no trouble. I've learned my lesson on wheat. If I have sawfly damage again it will get heavy harrowed in the fall.

      Hi there,
Farm in west central saskatchewan. This is our second season with our 5710 (10", MRB's). Both years we have had trouble with the sc****rs plugging on the MRB's in the mud. Basically what happens is mud and trash get jammed in between the sc****r and coulter causing the coulter to spin harder, which ultimately leads to the coulter stopping. It is awful strange, as some coulters on the machine did not plug once all season and others were plugged every 10 acres or so. Eventually we just got to the point where we didn't even stop to unplug them anymore.

As for as adjustments go I am open for suggestions. We have tried all different sc****r settings, anhydrous tip settings, sc****r heights, coulter depths, nothing seemed to make a difference. We even tried running with Urea for a field to see if that made a difference, it didn't.

All problems aside the crop is in and looking good, and I hope others were able to get all of their seed and the ground.
