I am thinking about purchasing a grain cart. I was wondering if there are some things I should make sure I had or things or models that I should avoid. I also wonder what provisions are made to load directly from the cart to a swing auger. If the questions seem really elementary it is because I have never looked at a cart or even dreamed of owning one but it is so wet that I have to be thinking of something.

We have an Unverferth 850 bus. cart. It is a good cart, corner auger with PTO drive. Takes a fair size tractor on it when full to move around the field at a reasonable speed. PTO drive is much faster than the hydraulic option as well. The corner auger does not give much room when pulling up to the truck and is not as easy as one thinks it should be. A turret auger would be handy, it can be moved without moving the cart all the time. I like the bourgault smart cart but I needed more than 750 bus. It is also more money as you likely already know. The Unverferth or Brent (almost the same thing) are simple and easy to use. I would buy the hydraulic diverter attachment on the end of the auger just for more adjustment going into the truck. It has been so wet here we have needed a cart for the last 2 years now. It should save ruts, time, and clutches.
