    spring auction prices

Was at an auction yesterday. 6 year old swather sold for $80,000.00. Are people nuts?

Pretty much the same here. People with more money than brains.

Gota have a screw loose someplace. A fellow I know just cashed out a new Massey, 30 ft header, pick-up reels, gauge wheels, for $68,000.00 cash no trade. Sure its a Massey or I should say Heston built, but paying 80 grand for a 6 year old swather no matter what brand is nuts.

Where/what dealer did he get that price from? We are looking for two new Hesstons with 36' triple delivery headers and pickup reels. Gotta have the Hesston cabs.
I consider those to be the best swathers ever produced. The Honey Bee header may be a bit better but also heavier and we dont like the adapters needed. Have an 00 CIH 8860HP w/ 36' HB and an 07 Hesston with the 30' Agco .

Not sure what dealer. He mentioned he got the swather from the North Battleford area if I remember right. Also it has the small cab...he said the bigger cab would have cost him something like 6 grand more. I agree the Heston is a good swather. Even if you factor in 6 grand more for a large cab and 68 = 74,000 is a good cash price for a new 30ft. swather.

That 8860HP has been GREAT!! repaired a couple hoses and a new alternator. The HB header (a 97 model)has cost a few bucks in maintenance and upgrades but will cut 30 bus canola WFO as long as it isn't lodged to bad (no keer shear). It has the steel teeth on the pick-up reel, they HURT if you get close with your head but last forever and really dig! Very impressed with the 30' Agco header on the 07, only 50 hours on it so far. Those big cabs are very nice. Having two 36' with the triple delivery option would be nice. They would last us 20 years. Many guys you talk to that traded 8860's off on the NH built CaseIH's wish they had their old machines back!!!
