Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Head into Board Election
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) will be running an election for three open positions on our Board of Directors. Elections will take place by mail and voter packages will be sent out the second week of November to all registered pulse producers in Saskatchewan. A registered pulse producer is defined as any grower that has sold or grown pulse crops and paid check-off to SPG in the last two crop years (between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2009).
Registered producers will have the opportunity to select up to three candidates of their choice from among the five nominees. For more information about the nominees please visit our website at www.saskpulse.com. This year's candidates will also be featured on CJWW's Let's Talk Ag program at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 to discuss their priorities for the pulse industry.
If you are a registered pulse producer and do not receive a voter package in the mail, please contact the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers office at 306-668-0590 before November 25, 2009. A cash ticket may need to be produced to confirm your eligibility to vote. Ballots are to be submitted to the Returning Officer by 4:30 PM on December 2, 2009. The election results will be announced in mid December.
SPG is run by a producer-elected Board of Directors comprised of seven pulse growers who are accountable to 18,000 pulse crop producers in Saskatchewan. SPG is funded through a mandatory check-off with a legislated mandate to build a prosperous pulse industry in Saskatchewan through investments in research and market development and promoting sustainable innovation, growth and success through leadership, collaboration and support.
