Can we all agree that the price of FLAX OATS PEAS AND LENTILS WILL Rise!

Can we all agree for once that the lentil, flax, pea and oats crops will be way down in yields plus acreage?
Simply if buyers aren't moving on price shouldn't we just Bin Bag etc and Wait.
Fill contracts one took and sit back and wait.
Just seems the buyers are trying very hard to fill their plants (Oats) and not interested in whats out their. Or do they really know how bad it really is.

We had a big drought last year in eastern Alberta.

Pea yeilds will be up big time over last year... they are going flat... but that is not unusual. Colour sorters can fix up quality... last year they split and cracked because of untimely rain in August in our area.

I think the market has it about right for where we are right now.

If we get to the middle of September without frost... with a little heat we will have volume. Quality is still dependant on harvest weather and the h20 tap shutting down.

Last year proves it isn't over till it is over!!!

Peas were a slow mover last year. This year the peas are being shipped out like crazy. Production this year will be no more than last year with better sales. That should make for some rallys. Pea yield in south sask will not be as bad as Albertas drought. But all the seed peas in the bin will not produce a thing.

No they will not rise, because they all know payments are due in the fall, and that the crop will not cover expenses for most farmers, the agrivation program will not work for 75% of farmers and if it does there is no money until mid summer to fall of next year, so farmers will have to sell every bushel and they will or suffer the consequences. That is why a program that pays out right at the end of harvest is worth so much more to farmers than this garbage we have now. The market does not work for farmers it works against giving us anything.

Wont the Pakistan flood increase pea and lentil demand? It looks like a huge wreck that isnt going to end when the waters go down, do they have the equipment to get fields cleared, irrigation ditches fixed etc in time to plant the next crop to replace the one which was just flooded out?

That would be my thinking on prices Ron, so why are they not rising, if we consider the conditions out here now and uncertainty isn't the market supposed to reflect uncertainty by increased prices? But like I said the buyers know that there is nothing gonna be paid by the support programs so farmers will have to unload they are just gonna wait it out.

Peas - no, every thing else should. Good quality green peas will be the only one to rise back to $1.5 - $2 spread over yellows IMO. Huge crop of yellows accross 2/3 western canada. Yes some disapointments but still a big crop about to come off in most areas.

the pea crop is crap furrow .. WAKE UP... 60 bushel stand running 30-40 here. We have none and many i know backed their acres off as well. Also not one decent pea crop did i see anywhere from regina to edmonton in the last 3 weeks. Drowned and diseased

Furrow your wrong on the peas. Pockets yes have great crop. Buddy today doing 600 acres thats running real good. But fields have a creek in centre and guess what it all drains to creek. They could get a inch every day and still no problem. Flat land is like one guy said 0 to 60 and back again.

In order of likelihood that prices will
rise from current levels:
1. flax
2. green peas
3. green lentils
4. red lentils
5. oats
6. yellow peas

This is just our current thinking, based
on research to date that takes into
account both supply and demand-side
factors.

Lots of special crops presold at cheap price this year. Was anyone around in 1994? Remember 47 50 cent canaryseed and farmers scampering away form their lentil contracts? Problem is some marketers have committed that production and are squeezed to deliver at any cost.
