what kind of prices are you seeing for edible peas??? seen $6.25 last week but dropped back on friday.

have not sold any peas yet,waiting for $7

Well I saw on some of the india retailers that a package of 2 lb peas is anywhere from 1.50 to 4.50 which means that anywhere from 45 bucks to 135 bucks a bushel. transpotation and plastic packaging must be awfully expensive those poor poor retailers.

so does that mean canadian pea producers are getting a larger portion of the indian consumer dollar than wheat farmers are from canadian consumers buying bread?

if you want to use it as ammo for the cwb debate go ahead, it's still a screw job, nothing done to them just put in a plastic bag, there are actually some higher prices than those as well, also how much peas in a 2.50 can of soup probably what a quarter pound. So for 60 pounds 240 x 2.50 about 600 bucks generated, less some water, a can and some cooking, now we are in the ball game of wheat aren't we.

Riders2010-what percentage of the cdn shipments of field peas to India do you suspect are sold in that manner? Does it matter that significant volumes of peas shipped into india are sold for less value than the costs to get that product to India, based on govt subsidies?

This is the same old arguement that can be done in any mkt in any country. It is shelf space and very easy to discount the cost of getting products to that position when we have no idea of the costs or the limited mkt volumne.

Whether it is in a can, a bag, a bigger bag, 6 bucks a bushel for the risk of growing that bushel far outweighs the risk, costs etc. that the price at the other end is fetching, that is something that some people don't understand.
