$8.00 Yellow Peas for Eastern Sask, Fall 08.

Today started my fall marketing with a $100,000.00 Sale for peas. Pioneer has 8.00 fall of 08. Its a price I can live with and I feel a good start. Thats a .75 cent increase since Saskatoon farm show. Thats one semi load less for same amount of money (1293 Bushels)

Realize not peas but will note that new crop 1CWRS 13.5 fpc is likely close to $9/bu (Dec. 2008 converted futures of $383/tonne yesterday port, assuming zero basis and %50/tonne CWB deductions. CPS/CWRW would be about $8/bu.

Not trying to take off topic but will be interesting to see how farmers make decisions with 50 cent plus/lb Nitrogen (based on $900/tonne anahydrous) and pea prices basically equal wheat based on new crop bids.

Part of the reason I ask is the next year of high prices (and likely the year after) would seem to be a great opportunity to get crop rotations into shape from all aspects (herbicide rotation, crop rotation, etc) as well as set a farm up to reduce cost structure (lower nitrogen costs both 2008 and 2009).

This farmer made the decision to grow 12 or the 29 quarters of yellow peas in October already. To hell with fert. price. by the looks of the agrium shares and mosaic shares maybe fert. will come down and just maybe I will plant some barley. Charlie yellow peas will grade better than wheat , no contest. Seed availability is the problem. I have mine.

Pioneer has 7.8 here by the way. Not going to talk to viagra because they were 2 months late taking mine this year. Just a little longer haul, which is a problem making it back to the combines on time with only one truck driver. And pioneer had half the dockage not that it mattered that much at .25 and .5 percent. Splits also less at pioneer, used to be UGG, still same good old guys working there I guess.
