I just recieved an email from an organic producer who asked this question:
"Are the organic growers satisfied that they have gotten "somewhat of a break" from the cwb in that they only have to pay $3.38 / MT for permits (and variances) extorted from them when selling their organic grain. "
It caused me pause. Then he goes on to say:
"I guess it is a far cry from where we used to be at when doing buybacks or where the conventional's are at this past few months........sooooo.....do you think we will we ever see $0.00 permits in time to come????"
This grower reminded me how unfair and irresponsible this Board of Directors wield their policy responsibilities.
Let me say this the best way I know how.
I am not satisfied at all.
Nor should you be.
Why would anyone be satisfied if the B of D voted in the backroom to give Joey Diddlehopper in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, a valid 365day/yr CWB export license, but no one else?
What are you conventional guys out there, chopped liver, that the CWB votes to favor organics and penalize you?
I find this kind of policy misappropriation offensive.
Every bloody farmer in the West should enjoy the same as the CWB does for Ontario.....Permits on demand.
Why should some mealy mouths vote on which farmers can do business and who cannot?
Why should some mealy mouths, determine if you will pay a "Flaman Fee" (small fee) or a Kirk Torkelson fee(so damn much it kills a sale and your farming operation)?
I'm fed up with the lot of them.
As should be anyone sane.
Parsley
PS A special thanks to the organic grower who, I know, does care about all farmers.
It reminded me not to be complacent.
