Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Expand Green Lentil Market Report

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Thursday, August 28, 2008

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) has expanded its’ Green Lentil Market Report to become the new Pulse Market Report. In addition to providing timely market information for lentils, the Pulse Market Report will also include information on chickpeas and peas. The first edition of SPG’s revised Pulse Market Report will be mailed to pulse producers across Saskatchewan who have sold pulses in the last two years the first week of September. Each edition of the report will also be available on our website at www.saskpulse.com.

The Pulse Market Report offers technical data and market commentary to Saskatchewan pulse producers to assist with lentil, chickpea and pea marketing decisions. “We received such an overwhelmingly positive response from producers in regards to the Green Lentil Market Report that we felt it was time to expand into the other pulse crops,” Garth Patterson, SPG Executive Director explains. “The Pulse Market Report is designed to educate producers on current market conditions for all pulse crops which can allow them to make smart marketing decisions for increased profitability.”

STAT Publishing will continue to generate the technical data for the Pulse Market Report, which includes supply/demand, stock/use ratios, and price by market class. The market commentary of the report (Bears and Bulls) will feature two market perspectives each month from key Canadian pulse traders, brokers and Pulse Canada.

“A recent SPG survey showed producers really saw value in projects like the Pulse Market Report. They are looking for all kinds of market information and the Pulse Market Report has proven an effective way for SPG to get that information to producers. With the expanded coverage we are able to ensure that all Saskatchewan pulse producers are able to take advantage of the expert information we are providing,” says Patterson.

If you are not currently receiving the Pulse Market Report and would like to or would like to be added to the email distribution list, please email lentil@saskpulse.com or call Rachel Kehrig at (306)668-9988.

Is this information valuable or do you just contract the crop before you grow it?
