Oh gee better be politically correct even if it appears out of style these days, so I qualify my statement: RAREARTH you bring a lot of points worthy of discussion.

I hope that we are moving in the direction
that will benefit the industry in general.
However my question remains:what were the
statements made by these three gentlemen
and were these statements supported by
their stakeholders? If they were not I am
suggesting there may be a disconnect
between them and their boards/grass roots.
The speaking notes please.

Sometimes someone who is trying to do good for the industry gets in the line of fire. Anyone who has ever stood for something can relate.
This is a clear case of this: the reality is the changes were eminent. Gordon was advising on process which would enable a competitive and fair environment, as he is known to do.
As for your point about relating with stakeholders I do agree, decisions are made without consultation by boards of directors which is the reason why the selection of a board is so critical to the future of an industry.

Does a ceo of a major organization decide
on his/her own to appear in front of a
parliamentary or senate committee or is
this decision and its message made after
consultation with the organization's
stakeholders. One would hope that the
appearance at the meeting and the message
would have been thoroughly discussed in
advance.

So you are asking if CSCA directors knew and
approved of the presentation that Gord gave at
this meeting? The answer to that is yes. And at
that meeting the first thing he said was that he
was there to represent CSCA.
Come on, you can do it, call me. I have the
speaking notes. Of course you don't want to have
a discussion about what was ACTUALLY
discussed at the meeting do you. I find it funny
that the last time grower99 posted under that
name was during the last SPG election a yr ago.

I also want to point out as a PULSE CANADA director, we get weekly reports on the activities, press releases are sent out, speaking notes are circulted, the the board prior to PULSE CANADA making any statements or appearances on our behalf. Gordon Bacon insists the organization is very accountable to the board of directors, who are elected by the organizations he speaks for. FYI this is VICKI DUTTON

The article is maybe somewhat misleading
then.If the presentation was from a CSCA
perspective and with the CSCA board
approval fine. However,I suspect the
Pulse Canada board and its large grower
group of directors would have probably
liked to aide in the development of a
position paper on these monumental
changes if they were asked.I am somewhat
reassured that Pulse Canada's position
on important ag issues is being
discussed at its board table and a
position established. Isn't it best to
involve the PC stakeholders on policy
issues? We know that operating from a
united board gives the stand on a
particular issue more credibility.
Thanks for clarifying PC's role.
