Lentils on Flax Stubble

Hello. I grew French Green lentils last year as a first time lentil grower and had reasonably good luck considering the weather conditions we had. What I would like to ask you is can I grow lentils on flax stubble and if so what chemical would you suggest I use to especially control the volunteer flax. Last year I used the tank mix of 1/2 L Transorb and 1/3 L of Pursuit would this also work.Thank you for any help you can give me.

I'll keep my eyes open for information but 'm not hopeful on this one. Flax is a relatively tolerant plant when it comes to broadleaf chemicals whereas lentils are not. Trying to do the reverse operation would be relatively simple but removing volunteer flax from lentil will be tough. Has anyone out there dealt with this problem before?

Last year I grew both Lentils and Chickpeas on flax stubble. In the spring it was sprayed with 1/2 litre glyphosate and 40% Pursuit. Later on for it was sprayed with Poast for wild oats. In the fall the lentils were killed with the lower rate of Reglone 240. I had to wait for almost 14 days because all of the volunteer flax wasn't dead yet.

The previous years flax stubble didn't cause problems with either our JD 1850 drill or our flex header. Apart from having to wait a little longer for the flax to dry down, there is no down side to a pulse crop on flax stubble. My lentils and chickpeas yielded just as well on flax stubble as they did on spring wheat stubble.

Just make sure that you have a rotary dockage cleaner for all of the bonus flax you get.
