    One more time"SMOKING"

I was talking to a truck driver this morning and he told me he paid$9.25 for a package of smokes at Caroline, Alta.
    Is this really the price?
I would suspect old Ralph might not be too popular with the smokers today???
But really what a sleazy thing to do. I mean these people still smoking are mostly the hard core...most people have quit because it is a lot more socially acceptable to beat your wife or abuse the homeless than it is to smoke!!!
Forget the crap about"we want to save our health care system" and any other drivel about caring!!! This is no different than the drug dealers putting up the price of heroin when there is a shortage! Feeding on the pain of human misery! For SHAME to the P.C. government!
And as in all sleazy and shameless acts they will reap what they have sown! They have just created a lucrative business opportunity for someone. I'm really starting to believe "Wilagros" assumption that this government isn't fit to run a hot dog stand! And Deb, don't you be quoting me on this!!!

"For SHAME to the P.C. government." That's what I'd quote just before the next election...just to REMIND you!

Countryguy; I would not wish $9.25 smokes on anyone! You are not a smoker and have obviously never been!

I quit smoking 16 years ago, and there are still days when I could KILL for a cigarette! GST time, income tax time, census time (especially right during seeding!) The addiction is proven to be harder to break than heroin.

This cost is not an incentive to quit as much as one more stress point for an already addict!

Countryguy: The most important thing about quitting is attitude. And maybe you will have to aquire the right attitude along the way.
Personally I wouldn't recommend things like the gum or patch. I mean you aren't really breaking the habit...you still get your little "fix" but in a different way! But for some people weaning off like this works!
Zyban is a drug that really works in that it controls the craving. Anyone can stop smoking with this drug and the right attitude!
The fact of the matter is all of these products still only have a success rate of about 30% so you can see attitude and motivation are the most important things!
Hows this for motivation?... $9.25 times 365= $3376.25! That will buy you a couple of weeks in the Carribean next winter! Or save two years and buy a new quad!
My own motivation was very simple. The doctor told me "Quit or die!" Sort of a no-brainer there!
Incidentley I was talking to my friend on the phone. He is an engineer on a drilling rig up west of Grand Prairie and he said smokes were over $10 in the little town close by!!!

OK Countryguy! But remember you asked for this!

I first incentive came when my mother passed away. She always wanted to quit smoking, but never could. I decided to quit in memory of her.

Next I enlisted the help of my husband. I told him I would have to do something that I could not do while smoking! Only one thing I could think of. Sex

Unfortunately, I was smoking a pack a day! .... and after sex, I once again craved a cigarette!

It almost KILLED my husband but I did manage to quit smoking!

He says if I start again, he won't help a second time!

              So now my secrets out!

Just gotta love that story! Maybe you should send a letter to Gary Mar! He could use it to promote quitting!
Well, there you have it Countryguy!!! Run that one by the old lady and see what she thinks!!!

HA HA HA!!Now THAT was funny! You can bet your bottom dollar I will be trying this method. With both of us going to try to quit things could get real interesting, probably won't be getting much accomplished for a while. You really should promote this way of quitting. And in the future when the wife has a "headache" it'll be "I guess I'll have to start smoking again"LOL
Thank you very much for sharing your proven method!:-)

Countryguy; Whenever you "feel the urge", present your wife with two aspirin and a glass of water.

When she says " What are these for?"

Your tell her with great concern in your voice," They're for your headache dear!"

If she tells you, with a little confusion in her tone, that she doesn't have a headache....

                    You got her! haha
