    American farm bill

Now America wants to support their farmers and Canada doesn't. Somehow this makes America about the worst thing since Saddam! I guess we won't mention Europes export subsidies.
I see one CWB director says we should cut off the natural gas to bring them to their senses! Excuse me! Does this guy have any natural gas? If so I suggest he get right out there and turn that valve off....but I kind of enjoy my royalty check every month...thank you very much! So nice of him to decide he can just steal my money!

Further on this subject: If the American farm bill adds up to an additional $7.3 billion/year that costs 300 million Americans about $25 each per year. Come on you can't even fill up a compact car for that? Won't even buy three packs of cigarettes! It's like one decent meal out!
So how is this such a mass destruction of world agriculture? How much of a tax on food would it take to match this "huge" subsidy? Face it...we have a bunch of pikers in Ottawa!

      Lets see 300 million people X $ 25 each = $7,500,000,000 USD divided by 35 million Cdns = $ 214 USD each or is that $ 500 Cdn each?

$25 American= about $40 Canadian times 32,000,000 (July 2001 census- 31,592,805)=$1.28 billion dollars Canadian which is pretty close to the $1.3 billion everyone is asking for.

I agree cowman but way to simple of arithmetic for the intellectuals in the agriculture department to figure out. I am sure they are highly paid and very valuable individuals, if you doubt it just ask them.

How does the old joke go
32 million people, 1/2 are kids = 16 million, 1/4 are retired = 12 million, 1/4 out of work = 8 million, a million in jail, not paying taxes, etc. = 7 million working people, 250,000 rich who pay no tax, 2 million poor who pay no tax and that leaves 4.5 million to pay the fees or how much each???

Have you checked out the subsidies to Qubec farmes coming from your equalization payments? I believe it's around $150 per. acre. I think it's time we quit finger pointing and looked in our own back yard!

If someone would pay me $150/acre I would let the little owls and the wolves have the place! How about Greenpeace or PETA or some of those other nuts!Show me the money!
I suspect you could be right however. As far as I'm concerned just one more reason to separate. Just think maybe we could separate, join the US and get in on the US farm bill gravy train?
