grassfarmer, while you may not agree with the outcome, the democratic process prevailed in Alberta. Obviously the opposition parties didn't provide alternatives that Albertans were interested in. While some Green Party candidates did have a good showing, the party overall still does not have standing in the Legislature.
When I first became involved in Ed Stelmach's leadership campaign I was ridiculed by a lot of people who thought he was just a hick farmer from Andrew. The more he has been able to meet Albertans, the more they have seen that he is really a man of integrity, one who cares for this province, and it's people.
He has never taken for granted his right to govern, he knew he needed a mandate from Albertans, and he got a resounding one today.
