Alta Election

With coming Alta Election, with understanding that Bill 46 has been passed last December 2007. So meaning AltaLink may reapplication again if PC win and Altalink chance are pretty high winning for transmission line. Wonder what Green Party do if they win the election? And will Green Party reverse the Bill 46 or not? Sound not really good for landowner who must be within 800 meters may attend the hearing and those are not are at their own cost or may not attend hearing meeting.

I would be mighty interesting if Joe Anglin was the Energy Minister.

If PC win in coming election Joe Anglin might look way around or there is way around to continuing fight with ERCB and AUC formal EUB if that didn't good enough and how about sending them to Canada Supreme Court to reverse Bill 46.

Would Joe be more effective as an opposition member (It would send a huge message) or as a private citizen?

Probably he could, has served 4 years in US Marines that make him tougher. Media papers getting louder at the time of hearing meeting, it all over Alberta. I have lost pride in PC and Alberta since when AGT hand over to Telus, Alta Liquor changeover, district agriculture office disappeared, Alta Highway, power and gas changed to unregatation and some of dept has merge into new dept and any more to list. Look now we has surplus and no debt and would this make me smile, no, we losing too much dept and services instead going to private. We need to change, I believe Joe doing good at opposition and if not, we can get other new one in next 4 yrs.

Joe wouldn't be hard to vote for. I live a long way from his area though and our PC candidate has been an excellent MLA and has got things done for us here so that is where my vote will go. I have carefully checked out all of our candidates and must admit the only one with potential other than the PC guy is running for the NDP. Way to far from my political philosophy to consider. She will be a force when she matures. (only 21 years old)

Was there Ed making any promise campaign for farmer? Probably none or was there? He even blink when he promised that royalty would be close to 1.9 billion and he bluff instead down to 1.4 billion. Think of Joe would bluff or blink down to 1.4 billion. I would think not.

Not gonna vote, all useless candidates in our area, can't support any of them.

I won't venture a guess as to what is going to happen in the election tomorrow. The PC Candidate will get elected here, that is almost a sure thing,and likely the Green Party candidate will come in second, as he did last time around. I do think that the rural vote will remain PC, but Calgary is a dark horse this time around.
I don't think Joe Anglin will defeat Prins, but he may get enough votes to send a message.

Wow, the naivity of the Alberta population never ceases to amaze me! Why would any electorate ever give a party an overwhelming majority like the PCs get here every time? It allows the corruption of Government by big business to continue. Now we can look forward to uncontrolled exploitation of our resources, increased CBM drilling, waterflood injection projects etc etc Those in agriculture complain how bad things are then every rural seat in the Province elects a PC candidate. Voting to have our ag policy dictated by Cargill.
Joe Anglin could make such a monkey out of Ray Prins in any debate - Prins seems to have little to offer yet gets re-elected. Strange politics in this Province.

grassfarmer, while you may not agree with the outcome, the democratic process prevailed in Alberta. Obviously the opposition parties didn't provide alternatives that Albertans were interested in. While some Green Party candidates did have a good showing, the party overall still does not have standing in the Legislature.
When I first became involved in Ed Stelmach's leadership campaign I was ridiculed by a lot of people who thought he was just a hick farmer from Andrew. The more he has been able to meet Albertans, the more they have seen that he is really a man of integrity, one who cares for this province, and it's people.

He has never taken for granted his right to govern, he knew he needed a mandate from Albertans, and he got a resounding one today.

My quarrel is not so much with Stelmach as with the old party establishment and its smugness. Big business runs this province through its continued influence over the party apparatus.

We needed a change, and we didn't get it...very sad situation.

I have always felt the way to effect change within government is to work with the party in power. Of course business has an important voice in Alberta, business is what drives the economy of the province. Municipalities have the opportunity for a strong voice, but it is only as strong as the municipal representatives elected by the public.


I am sure the Premier heard many concerns during this election campaign, hopefully he and his caucus will to what is necessary to address some of the issues facing Albertans.

There are two ways to affect change. Boot the old or work from within. I guess we will have to do the latter. A shame that Anglin never won his seat. He would have been an asset to the Legislature.

wow...liked to have seen the wildrose alliance fare better...quite surprized with the urban vote...this was a great opportunity for opposition parties but you wonder how could they really out spend down the middle pc already without big deficits...i know many do not like big business but personally i dislike more bureaucrats and red tape more...
