We have had enquiries by an American based oil company wanting to drill shallow wells for methane in the coal seams under our land. They indicated that there is a lot of water in the coal and that it would have to be disposed of on the surface. We are concerned that there will be long term implications for water in the aquifers that we are drawing our water from.
Can anyone relate their experiences with these shallow wells and what happened to the "water"?
This is a new enterprise to this area but I have found on the internet that shallow methane wells have been produced in Kansas,Tennesse and Australia.
We would appreciate anyones knowledge or help regarding these types of wells.
