What do you miss and need when living on a farm?

What would be your dream farm and what do you need on your current farm that you dont have?
    Items could be anything.

Good water is a great thing to have. We now have rural pipeline and that makes alot of things easier.

I,ll second the water. We are now on a rural water line and its great.

My wish - all hopper bottom bins.
I just can,t get enough of these.
When I win the lottery all flat bottom bins are going down the road.

My dream farm would have a large Profit every year. Those hoppers sound good too. We are blessed with lots of water here so I guess we take it for granted. Wouldn't want to do without it.

What I really miss are the trees that got decimated in the great hailstorm of 2006. 100 years of tree growth wiped right out and it doesn't look as though any of them will come back. Every single needle ripped off of some of the trees. I'm not sure we will ever get over the loss of the trees.

There are many things I would like to have on the farm, but what I think we need the most is the kind of fencing that will keep all of our critters in and all the neighbors critters and the unwanted predators out.

I'd say neighbours, on our particular stretch of 15 mile road their used to be 13 farm families living, going to school, producing goods and services that we each needed. Now there is 2.

Now I need the hopperbottoms and the part time workers too.

I'd say the birds...in the last twenty years the numbers and the different kinds of birds have been greatly reduced. No meadowlarks, no prairie chickens fewer nighthawks and owls, fewer hummingbirds.

                Anyone else notice this?

My dream farm would have 36 hour days and a reasonable return on my investment and a force field to keep Davey Lake Development and CBM out. I to have dreams!

Wilagro, a couple of years ago I thought the same thing. Lately though we've been seeing more birds again, everything from bald eagles and prairie chickens and owls to red polls, chickadees and wrens. Hopefully it's just the part of the cycles in your area.

I miss the sense of community that used to be in our area. We aren't a 'farming community' anymore, but a mosaic of acreage and agriculture. Most of the families that have chosen to locate on acreages in this area drive in to town for their family's recreation activities, so the little communities are going by the wayside.
