    Too many coyotes?

The coyote population around my area seems to be doing very well! I don't know what is happening but they seem to be packing up right now and killing a lot of deer. I found two carcasses down in the bush where the snow is deep. One pack of eight came cruising through the cows the other day when I was out feeding.
All the local pig barns around here just toss the dead pigs out and it has been quite a little smorgasborg for the coyotes! I think it is illegal but everyone does it!
There used to be some Indians around here that hunted/trapped the coyotes but they have all disappeared a long time ago. I guess they are too busy running casinos or something to be bothered with skinning some old coyote?
Much as I hate to, I guess I'll have to drag out the old gun and start trimming them up. I sure wish valuechain would get that "alternative livestock" plant up and running!

LOL, well we are all wishing for the same thing (with a lot of hard work behind it) The trappers up here are doing very well this year maybe they need to come down your way and help you out.

Just happen to own a fifteen year old black cow that hates coyotes with a passion. We just trailed the last of the cows home from the hills yesterday and the old girl spotted a coyote and she put the run on it. That was one lucky and tired coyote when she got finished. So what am I bid for this valuable critter, the old girl would be worth $150 tops on the market.

I remember quite a few years ago when the whole herd caught sight of a cougar that was scoping them out about a 1/4 mile away. Should have seen those cows, quick as lightning. Cougar almost didn't make 'er. First time I had ever seen cows run faster then calves.

You want to see something amazing, you should see a donkey go after one. Ours will even stand and graze, ignoring the coyote (or dog, for that matter) until it gets within striking distance. Then, boom.... game over.

The coyotes in our neighbourhood never come to our pastures. Sometimes they sit outside the fence and howl, but they never come in.
