    I had a dream two...

The thread, I had a dream..., which I posted on marketing was not arguing covid, or vaccines, but was about attitudes of posters on agriville - attitudes which have reared their heads again over a facetious dream post. But seeing as it has upset a number of you, I will move it to this forum and delete it from marketing. Here are all the posts before deleting:

Twas the night before Christmas and all over the farm
not a creature was stirring, there was no cause for alarm.
The bins were all checked and sealed with great care
in hopes that by spring, markets still would be there.

The cows are all preg checked and all had been fed
and deep piles of straw are providing warm beds.
So mamma in her kerchief and I in my cap
had just settled in for a long winter’s nap.

When out in the yard there rose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
gave a lustre of mid-day to the farm yard below.
But spoiling the view, without any facts,
was a cadre of agrivillers opposing the vax.

Emboldened by admin that gave them free reign
to spread their BS without any restrain.
They jeered and they shouted unsubstantiated claims
started by conspiracy artists playing Q games.

Following this group, those with heads in the sand,
demanding: “speak of the vax on this site should be banned!”
So fed up with Covid, that they no longer can see
that by limiting speech, no one is free.

Not far behind were climate change critics
who think they know more than all the analytics
that show climate change is real, and a threat to us all,
but they claim it’s all fraud and point out the nice fall.

Next were those who hope Canada fails
as they think separation answers all Prairie’s ails
A strategy that has never worked in the past.
But will surely this time, or at least the end will be fast!

Marching along were those who love to call names
socialists and communists are their biggest defames.
Post a contrary view, or a comment they don’t like -
well you must be a Liberal and most likely a dyke.

The biggest group in the yard, by 90%, if not more
were those who see Trudeau as a government w***e.
Screwing the farmers, to enrich those down east.
Pillaging the west to provide Quebec with a feast.

It was at that moment that I awoke with a start
hoping the nightmare was just a brain fart.
I looked out the window and found the farm that I love
At peace with the world, a blessing from above.

I turned on the computer and keyed the agriville site
and found the forum I had left was still a cockfight.
    Misinformation, complaints, and hatred galore!
After being gone for a month, twas really a bore.

Comments so childish, whinny, and sad.
Are all farmers who post, really this bad?
No wonder we’re ignored, and seen as redneck
When we cannot even keep our keyboards in check.

When did we lose our respect for another?
Where did we leave our compassion for others?
Why, at this time, do so many still hate?
Do we not see what we write determines our fate?

If there’s really a Santa, here is my hope:
In spite of ag’s problems, all farmers will cope.
And to all the complainers and spreaders of bull
may you find you half empty glass is actually half full!

Farmers are special of this no doubt,
Those on Agriville have hearts that are stout,
Many choice words of friendship and fear,
    Commodity Management this perhaps about!

Good Cheer and pleasant marketing in 2022,
Good health and safety as we travel this road,
Humanity served with good food by each of you.

I am confused by this statement.

When has this been tried in the past?

    Fine

    One jab, two jabs,
    They didn’t work,
    Three jabs, four jabs
    You’ll get your perk

    Mask up ensure,
    Stop the spread
    Wait a minute
    Hold on now,
    Two weeks were a blur

    Vaxxed cases lookout
    They’re now in the lead
    They’re called a breakout,
    So what do we need?
    Booster, booster
    Jabs One two and three.

    Is this allowed,
    This poetry?
    That’s what we need
    Trust the government, the experts
    To whom you have bowed.

    I bow to my Savour,
    God in human form,
    No man, no politician
    Deserves my bent knee.

    He gave me
    Total freedom
    That Moe took away,
    This whole thing is crazy
    Don’t look the other way.

    Forgive me, please
    If I don’t understand
    Maybe it’s a tease,
    Why are you letting
    the government hold your hand?

    You fought for
    The freedom
    To sell your own grain
Yet it seems that you feel
They now work for your gain

    Merry Christmas.

I just counted, and on the top page here today, 22 of the most recent 25 threads are directly ag or economy related.

I checked a few random pages from last summer, it was less than half ag or econ related. And that was by thread count. Post count was much much worse.

That seems like very good progress.

And even better yet, Chuck hasn't started a pot stirring off topic thread for a month now.

    Members are starting to return.

And contrary to the hopes and dreams of Chuck himself, the forum hasn't withered away into obscurity without his valueless input.

Let's keep up the good work. Reply With Quote Like

And, as an added bonus, free speech is alive and well.
Members appear to be free to post any information, or misinformation they like, without fear of being censored, as long as they do so in the appropriate forum.

But for whatever reason, only one side of the debate has chosen to take advantage of this opportunity.

I propose a few possible reasons.
    1) The opposing side really could care less about the issues, this faux outrage was all about attracting attention to themselves, good or bad, so when they were banished to the back 40 where there was no audience to perform for, they lost interest.
    2) They are such poor ineffective debaters that their best hope was to silence the opposition with censorship, or at least overwhelm them with quantity, when the administrators made it obvious that they are not in the censorship business, the poor debaters accepted defeat and gave up.
    3) The message they were supporting was so weak as to be completely untenable, so that their only hope had been to silence through censorship, or overwhelm through shear volume of insults, any opposition. When admins wouldn't go along with their censorship, they accepted that they could never win the debate when the facts were not in their favour, so they quit. ( and I'm not saying this is true).

Any other possible explanation why one entire side of the debate just disappeared all at once, except for the odd sore loser post such as todays? Reply With Quote Like

    1) You can tell a farmer,
But like truck drivers… you sure can’t tell farmers much!!!

    2) It must be in our jeans!

    3) In the Great White North, the climate creates innovative independent farmers, who are expected to do next to the impossible, with blood sweat and tears, overcome our fears, and grow high quality food for a hungry world!

    National Corn Yield Contest
602-BPA Field Earns Hula Top Honors in National Corn Yield Contest
    12/15/2021 | 10:49 AM CST
    Emily Unglesbee
By Emily Unglesbee , DTN Staff Reporter

David Hula, of Charles City, Virginia, grew 602-bushel-per-acre corn this year, which topped the National Corn Growers annual yield contest and cemented Hula's status as one of the corn farming industry's all-time greats. (DTN photo by Joel Reichenberger)
ROCKVILLE, Md. (DTN) -- Corn yields surpassing 600 bushels per acre (bpa) used to be unthinkable. For David Hula, they're becoming routine.

With a no-till, irrigated field of Pioneer's P1222YHR hitting 602.17 bushels per acre, Hula, of Charles City, Virginia, has once again topped the National Corn Yield Contest -- and cemented his status of one of the corn farming industry's all-time greats.

The field is, after all, the second time Hula -- or any contest participant -- has crested 600 bpa. In 2019, he set his fourth world record with a field that hit 616 bpa.

Hula told DTN he credits ever-improving corn genetics and his region's longtime focus on fertilizer efficiency with helping him scale the towering heights of corn yield potential.

"This is beyond what we thought the theoretical yield limit could even be," he marveled. "Genetics is the first big thing. Second is that water quality in the Chesapeake Bay area has forced us to be so much more efficient with fertilizer -- the timing of the application, the placement, the rates, the nutritional balance."

Hula's quest for corn's highest limits has become a family affair. The second-highest yield in the 2021 contest was raised by his son, Craig Hula, also of Charles City, Virginia, with the same variety, Pioneer's P1222YHR. His plot hit 583.07 bpa and landed him in second place in the no-till, irrigated category.

Truly a field of dreams!!! Reply With Quote

That would appear to be a vote for number 1 then? By referring to the appropriate forum as purgatory and exile, it would seem that you feel that your efforts wouldn't derive enough attention to be justified.

If you go to home depot and insist on using the display toilets to do your business, and they politely inform you that there are public washrooms where they would prefer you do your business more discreetly, do you throw a tantrum about being exiled into purgatory?

Speaking of Fields of Dreams…Today from the Red River Farm Network:

Renewable Diesel: A Market Disrupter – Ag Resource Company President Dan Basse believes the push toward renewable diesel will be the most disruptive factor in agriculture for the next few years. “With states like California providing tremendous subsidies and mandating 700 million gallons of usage, you can see how quickly this is all ramping up.” This policy change will have a dramatic impact on the soybean oil market. “If I take the existing, under construction and proposed or announced plants, I come up with U.S. soybean oil demand doubling in the next three years.” If these soybean crush plants all come online, Basse said the U.S. will need an additional 40 million acres of soybeans to meet the demand. During the Farm Foundation Forum, Basse said it seems impossible to see that kind of growth, but this demand factor will significantly change the agricultural landscape.“

Vegetable Oil Shortages Weigh on Markets – Shortages in the vegetable oil market are pushing the grain markets higher. Market advisor Mike Krueger says this shortage is two-fold. “People want to be bearish on the soybeans, because there’s talk about record crop production for North America in 2022. Then, they’re already forecasting a record crop in Brazil. On the other hand, canola ending stocks are nearing zero, not just because of the drought, but worldwide.” Increasing biodiesel and renewable diesel demand could be a game changer. “If we start to throw oil demand into the picture, that’s going to support crushing economics for soybeans as well. We set all-time record highs for canola futures in the last month or two. It’s going to take time to get crush facilities online and we may not be able to crush these in the next six months.”

      Can you imagine this:

“ A national ambient air quality standard is also in the works with an announcement by August of next year. This is the proposal to regulate farm dust that came up during the Obama administration.”

      Agenda
      Published December 17, 2021
The Environmental Protection Agency released its unified agenda for the year ahead. The agency plans to release plans for the 2023 renewable volume obligations under the RFS by May and complete the rule one year from now. Canola oil is expected to be designated as an advanced biofuel during that time. EPA is also scheduled to issue the regulatory process for a new Waters of the United States rule in February. A national ambient air quality standard is also in the works with an announcement by August of next year. This is the proposal to regulate farm dust that came up during the Obama administration.
