Nobody is buying your new found concern for the environment and living standards in the developing world A5.

If you really believed this was an issue you would be raising it over and over again about all kinds of industries including oil extraction and coal mining.

But all we hear is crickets unless it has to do with renewable energy.

Right wing fake libertarians don't believe in more regulations to protect the environment and workers do they? LOL

You wouldn't even listen to David Schindler when he raised alarm bells over the impact the tar sands are having on fresh water and the environment in Alberta.

Take a look to what happened to coal generation in the US. In 2020 renewables were the second largest generation source ahead of nuclear and coal.

Now keep telling us wind and solar don't work. I guess that's why Alberta is leading the country in installing wind and solar capacity.

What happened A5 you seem to have disappeared when confronted with some facts that are hard to deny?

Are you too busy pushing for more environmental regulations and social justice in the developing world?

Chuck, when are you headed to china to preach to them about greenhouse gas emissions, and coal usage?

China, the world's biggest coal burner and greenhouse gas emitter, used 5.24 billion tonnes of standard coal equivalent of energy last year, up 5.2% from 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.

China is a common target for criticism when it comes to emissions; the most populous country on the planet uses fossil fuels for 87 percent of its energy production. To exacerbate the issue, 80 percent of that fossil fuel usage is represented by coal energy production. China is the world’s largest producer of coal, consuming more than half of the global supply.

China has been the world leader in carbon dioxide emissions since 2006, and today they are responsible for 25 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Largest part of their NH3 production uses coal instead of natural gas.
They produce about 12 times as much as Canada.

Our current solution for solving the climate emergency is to cap natural gas production as China and half the world are expanding coal to grow their economies. Ever shipment of LNG we export reduces coal expansion.

Are we truly stupid or just brainwashed?

China is certainly a big issue and a concern because of its coal and greenhouse gas emissions.

But they are also leading the installation of renewable electricity and EVs.

But the rest of the world matters as well.

And the US is clearly moving away from dirty coal to cleaner electricity options.

So you agree that Canada's policy of shorting the world supply of natural gas will lead to reduced emisions in the short to medium term?

That's how Canada can best do our part?

Where is it official policy that Canada is "shorting the world of natural gas"?

Gas is replacing coal in many parts of Canada and the US.

There is more discussion about LNG exports to Europe to make up for Russian supplies.

But Canada is number 6 in world production and number 5 in consumption and the rest is exported primarily to the US.

Coal accounts for nearly 75% of India's power generation and power plants account for over three-fourths of the over one billion tonnes of annual coal consumption.

The Indian Railways loaded 427 trains with coal on Thursday, the government said. That is higher than its commitment of 415 trains per day on an average, but still lower than the requirement of 453 per day.

Whatever Canada does to reduce ghg emissions is a drop in the bucket. Purely virtue signaling.
The places that matter arn't playing the game.

So the US doesn't matter? LOL

                        Renewables have overtaken coal.

Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) Commentary — 10 January 2022

This commentary was first published by The Times of India.

India’s announcement that it aims to reach net zero emissions by 2070 and to meet fifty percent of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030 is a hugely significant moment for the global fight against climate change. India is pioneering a new model of economic development that could avoid the carbon-intensive approaches that many countries have pursued in the past – and provide a blueprint for other developing economies.....
