In todays's political climate many working, tax paying, family raising Canadians are regularly dismissed as lunatics by people of all political stripes. Jason Kenney is only one of the most recent high profile offenders. Labeling our fellow men and women as crazies is a very slippery slope. Simply an easy way to dehumanize anyone you disagree with.

The only plausible narrative is that protesters and advocates from all sides are people with valid opinions. If their opinions lead them to commit crimes we have law enforcement and a legal system to deal with that. Sadly this narrative is outright banished and replaced with strident rhetoric, hypersensitivity and demonization. Bodes badly for democracy. If you can make people believe in absurdities (enemies are lunatics), you can make them perform atrocities. e.g. trampling peaceful protesters.

Well said. And I agree, those people are certainly not the lunatics.

Who I would classify as lunatic in the year 2022, are those who are still trying to take us back to 1850.

What you just described is true on all sides. And the majority of working, tax paying, family raising Canadians are moderate centre to centre left on the political spectrum. The core Conservative vote is 25 -30% of the electorate. Of which a large portion is moderate progressive Conservative.

But Kenney is clearly concerned about rightwing extremists taking over the UCP who are sometimes racist and white supremacists. But also the people who say WEF or Soros are controlling Canada or that Liberals are part of a pedophile organization. The list of wacky goes on.

So to suggest that somehow these extremists are a legitimate part of the mainstream political discussion and debate in any way is a mistake.

Ah Chucky. And to think I bypassed the ignore notification to read your reply to find that you missed the point completely. Once again, ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO AN OPINION and should be taken seriously.

            Your statement requires a disclaimer.
All peoplekind have a right to an opinion except for The Fringe minority holding unacceptable views.
I thought they made that one quite clear.

I voted for kenny last leadership race. Later i wished Brian Jean would have got it. But after listening to him lately the last while i think i would vote for kenney. My personnal complaint with kenney is hes always blaming someone. Im hoping if he is done on the 9th that there will be others that put their name forward. I also hope they can get their act together before we have another ndp govt. Just my opinion.

Notley is trying to distance herself from her federal counterparts. Harder to do with the ndp than liberals or conservatives. If she truly speaks for Alberta maybe a name change and decoupling from the federal party. I quite doubt it’ll happen but if she wants to be taken seriously she should do that and not have the picture of health for the health minister again. Even better the liberals ndp Alberta party team up and start a party. It’s a two party race anyway. Putin loves to have lots of parties. Something like 60 opposition parties in Russia.

The people of Alberta are telling Kenny (and others) that its time to fight. And he is not getting it because he someone wants to be Canadas saviour. There is no saving this.

Trudeau just announced emissions reductions of 43% for AB and 23% for Ontario. He is coming up with a hard cap on the sands and raising carbon taxes and siphoning more equalization money into Quebec and buying votes with it and forged a coalition made in hell with the NDP.

I mean whats left to say here. The wagging of fingers at the podium is over. Time to strike back and Jean looks like he is ready to do just that.
