Ford successfully courted many of the union members in Ontario. Yup Ford's a union supporter.

Ford also had some of the toughest covid measures in Canada and called covid protestors yahoos.

Many 905 Ford supporters are also Trudeau supporters who helped Trudeau win the last election.

Ford's win is a win for a more centrist conservative leader.

Crypto Polly will have to move to the centre on many issues too if he is going to win a general election.

But Polly saying he would ban all vaccine mandates for ever is the kind of thinking that appeals to a small number of people. The vast majority of voters at the height of the pandemic were all for vaccine mandates.

So if another infectious disease comes along and turns into a pandemic does anyone really think that people are going to complain about mandates? Who the hell wants to get sick when an easy way to reduce the infection rate and severity of a disease is easy to get with a vaccine?

Polio, small pox and a long list of other infectious diseases have all but been eradicated because of vaccines. But some people want to take us back to a world of infectious disease before vaccines? No thanks.

Kinda ticked me off when the head doc at university hospital in Saskatoon took Moe to task for not being restrictive enough and used it as a reason for why he was going back to Ontario when the reason had more to do with his family being there. I thought Moe didn’t do a terrible job of it balancing both sides and he stuck to his word. Kenney could’ve taken lessons. I don’t think any government would keep doctors, nurses or teachers satisfied. It’s just the way it is. Not saying any politician didn’t make mistakes handling Covid but how they dealt with their mistakes was more important. Ford took it seriously and was honest I think. Moe was the same but he had a larger anti restrictions faction to keep placated. So far ford won and Moe is still polling well. Kenney is gone.

So cute how people want to apply provincial results as a foreshadow to federal politics.

Ontarians by and large don't hate Trudeau nearly as much as Kathleen Wynne. This was the woman who could not release her itinerary to the general public for fear of assassination attempts.

Del Duca was her right-hand man and just a walking trash heap. To gain any seats from before was a miracle in itself.

Horwath overstayed her time and took Millenial and Gen Z votes for granted this time, pandering to the Boomers, who are no longer the largest voting block.

Ford is significantly more appealing to a broader base than the other two leaders and Liberal voters aren't scared of the Ontario PC party.
