You live in a perpetual state of denial my friend. Canada was set up so that which central Canada would always wield power over the west. Initially Alberta and Saskatchewan were to be a single entity called Buffalo but was quashed as central powers feared it would be too strong to deal with. Your beloved Board only applied to western farmers. The liberal and old conservative base is Ontario. Why do you think the Progressives CCF Social Credit and Reform parties were born in the west? Yes the conservatives use the western alienation crutch a bit too much. You are not completely wrong there but to deny it hasn’t happened or is happening is pure delusion. I imagine TC Douglas and Criar thought a lot the same as Manning or Aberhart on this issue even though they were at different ends of the spectrum. As it stands the conservatives are the only ones that acknowledge it much to their advantage of course but when other parties don’t at least appear to it is unfortunate.

I don’t see western secession anytime soon nor would I support it unless the situation becomes untenable. What I do fear is the fragmentation that is happening and it is not exclusive to east vs west. With a federal leader ruling from a bulky pulpit the provinces who reject stand to be beaten into submission. For you Chuck you’re getting old and your days are numbered but for younger guys like me with young kids I am really afraid. We can converse here in some anonymity and pass on wacky theories and political beliefs, and be complete assholes. However, at the end of the day when we get off the chat and go talk to regular folks and professionals you get a sick feeling things aren’t right. Everyone is unsure about their and their childrens futures wealthy, educated, uneducated, or poor. Chuck if you don’t at least see that you’re a mess.
