Saskatchewan residents were already receiving most of the carbon tax back from the federal government anyway.

Now Moe wants to invest it in small modular nuclear reactors that are still on the drawing board with no license to operate until many many years away.

So if nuclear is such a good economic option why does the private sector not build capacity in Alberta and Saskatchewan without taxpayers subsidies?

Interconnections between all the nearby states and provinces along with a bigger investment in renewables would be a good option and build some lower cost resilience into the system. Renewables can't cover all our needs but they are the lowest cost option for a larger percentage of our electricity needs.

Alberta is leading Canada in renewable deployment because the economics in a deregulated electricity market support more investment. But nobody in the private sector is planning to build nuclear.

So Moe and Alberta the cheerleaders of the private sector and small government are going to choose nuclear the most expensive big government option subsidized by taxpayers? How ironic! LOL

You keep referring to the oxymoron "lower cost renewables" as if they actually exist.

And if they did actually exist, no government would need to subsidize them, because the costs savings of switching from fossil fuels or nuclear would be incentive enough.

Christ half the nuke plants on the planet are using Sask uranium.

SMRs have been used on subs and carriers for 50 yrs.
