Russia of course at the higher end , Ukraine not far up the list from them .

Sad world we live in when seen this way

And for all the complaining on Agriville regarding Canada as being so corrupt and comparing it to a 3rd world country, Canada came in as the 14 least corrupt country in the world.

I personally would have like to see Canada being even less corrupt and higher on the list, but it doesn't come close to being a banana republic so many no here make it out to be.

Furrow, what point were you trying to get across when mentioning Ukraine being somewhat less corrupt than Putin's Russia?

      From the article that goes with the map;

"the last eight years, only 22 countries recorded a significant improvement in their scores while 21 experienced a significant decrease. Greece, Guyana and Estonia were among the nations making notable progress during that period while Canada, Nicaragua and Australia all experienced a significant deterioration."

My fear is that it is inevitable that we continue to move that way.
All the large profitable companies are moving to more corrupt areas because it is impossible to get anything done here and new regulation saps productivity and profit.

It takes 2 yrs to get a passport in Canada.
In some corrupt countries you get one immediately if you make a "convenience payment".

Canada is in the top tier of the corruption index just behind Australia and ahead of the UK and the US.

So much for the idea that "everything is broken".

And it takes two years to get a passport? Huh. My daughter got hers renewed by mail within about 4 months during a period of unprecedented travel demand this past summer.

Of course there are travellers who book their trips and then realize their passport is about to expire or they need a passport within a couple of weeks? Whose fault is that?

The map is there for reference.

Check the countries where Mr Trudeau has been traveling passing out huge sums of taxpayers money.

The map indicates where we have been.
          What direction are we going?
          Up or down?

Just for interest Chuck, can you list the countries that were at the top of the CWB customer list?

Up or down in the top tier of low corruption countries is not that significant.

The US on the other hand has a worse record and also has a group of citizens who don't believe in the democratic process.

Regardless of corruption development aid and famine aid often goes to NGOs that work on the ground.

So current private and public grain companies never sell grain to a country that has a high level corruption?
                LOL

Any attempt to lump all of Canada into a single index of corruption is meaningless. As anyone who has done business across this country can tell you, Quebec corruption at all levels, and underground economy is off the charts compared with the rest of the country.
While Quebec is closer to Turkmenistan, the rest of the country outside of the reserves is closer to Denmark.

In the past, corruption was usually exposed by inquisitive journalists, now the media is either bought off [Canada] or journalists have bad luck when leaving high rise buildings [Russia], either way the government gets their silence.
