There was a time that most had some relatives in Eastern Canada.
My father's generation went there to work in the factories as that was where the better paying jobs were.
Hard to have a connection with a far off region when you have no reason to go there.
As was pointed out, people now go west or south.

So true. Both sides of the family came from southern Ontario and the maritimes many moons ago. Lots of family in the states as well. Older generations used to keep in touch and relatives came out to visit. They’ve all died off and no one kept in touch. I can say with certainty my family has been in Canada for 200+ years but us westerners are diverging from the notion of the Canada the lower 49th Tim Hortons and the CBC pirveyed, and even our ancestors believed. No one is going to war and nothing of sorts to cement several generations back together neither. I don’t like the idea of separation but I don’t like the idea of how the west is drug along by the zeitgeist of central Canada which has become increasingly foreign to us. It is beyond an urban rural divide or even racial. Aside from hockey there’s not much in common.

Some of the political leaders in this country are stoking the divisions for their own political gain.

There isn't as much of a difference as you are being lead to to believe.

There are a few hard core separatists who will never be happy under any government but they are an extremely small group except in Quebec.

Quebec is the most different of all Canadian provinces because of culture and language and a history of being dominated by English Canada.

And as you correctly point out, the current administration is stoking division between this group, and the more urban voters, for their own political gain.

Which is why the convoy so spooked the Liberal elite. The repressed classes united and realized we do all have a common cause, and common enemy. The long used divide and conquer tactics were no longer effective amongst the groups who also just so happen to have the most actual power to disrupt the society and the economy.

Your attempts at deflecting from a simple question get more elaborate and absurd by the day.

Trying to get back on topic. Are you suggesting that the appropriateness of divisive politics is dependent on which side is doing the dividing, and which side is uniting?
It was heartwarming to see the various marginalized groups from all across the country finding common ground during the convoy. But you are opposed to that.
